The assessment, verification and awarding aspects of METIS will be tackled by the METIS curriculum and training; in parallel, relevant tools and mechanisms will be developed to promote the alignment of METIS curriculum and training with National Qualification Frameworks (NQFs) of the countries represented by the educational partners of METIS as well as the European Qualification Framework (EQF).

A crucial element of this model will be the development of documents that can be used by partners to interact with relevant counterparts (national and / or regional authorities, agencies, certification and accreditation bodies, etc. depending on the specific national contexts and procedures). Those documents can take the form of Memoranda of Understanding to promote the mutual recognition of the METIS curriculum.

Position Paper on Microelectronics Skills and Competences

With the position paper we, the consortium members, aim to contribute to policy-making in the European microelectronics sector in relation to skills and competencies. We describe the importance of the microelectronics sector for many different industries, such as automotive, aerospace, and medical devices, and the need for specialized skills and competencies in the field. We also highlight the shortage of skilled workers and innovative mindsets in the microelectronics industry. The paper provides recommendations for decision-makers across the EU to support the development of skills and abilities in the microelectronics sector, and for the main objective of the METIS project, which is to support the training of the current and future microelectronics workforce in new design and production methods.

Joint Manifesto on Microelectronics Skills Recognition

We, the METIS consortium members call for an ambitious European initiative in the microelectronics sector to promote actions and procedures to harness talent and link it to the occupational profiles and skills for the sector. With the joint mainfesto we want to highlight the shortage of suitable candidates and critical skills. It is also important to note that companies are increasingly focused on understanding how to attract, develop, engage, and retain talent, and that there is a need for a broader approach to identifying people with the right commitment and agility to succeed in a changing corporate world. Additionally, our manifesto emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion efforts in retaining talented employees.

Skills Passport, Europass and EURES Suite

The partners will develop a set of tools to promote mobility of learners and workers, promoting apprenticeships, learning and placement opportunities across borders. Those tools are inspired by Europass and EURES and will include all the guidelines for learners/trainees to use the EUROPASS documents:

  • EUROPASS Curriculum Vitae
  • The Language Passport
  • The Europass Mobility
  • The Certificate Supplement
  • The Diploma Supplement
